100409 1131 ProjectRunw1 Project Runway Gets Christina Aguilera as Guest JudgeThis season might just get a little bit dirty.  Access Hollywood confirms that award-winning pop musician Christina Aguilera will be the next guest to judge designs on Lifetime’s Project Runway.  The sixth installment of the hit reality series is really bringing in those celebrities ever since its premiere on a new network.

According to reports, Aguilera will be appearing on the October 15 episode of the show.  She’s the latest star to appear on Project Runway, following the likes of Lindsay Lohan on the season opener, as well as Rachel Bilson and Rebecca Romjin.  There’s also Eva Longoria Parker if you’re still counting.

I wonder what this means the challenge that the designers will have to face.  We could spend endless hours speculating the implication of Aguilera’s presence on the show, but won’t you rather be surprised?

If we look back on previous celebrity judges, we’ll see how they’re involved in the challenge for that episode.  Mommy Rebecca Romjin had them make maternity dresses, Rachel Bilson from The OC was for the beachwear task and I suppose Eva Longoria Parker was present for the newspaper-garments because she’s a headliner.  It doesn’t make much sense, but bringing in Lindsay Lohan for the red carpet even challenge is too easy too.

Now, there’s bound to be music involved when talking about Christina Aguilera.  Does this mean the designers will be making clothes for the Grammys or for a crazy new music video?  Whatever the case, we still have to wonder about her credentials as a guest judge for Project Runway.

Her Wiki page states that she’s been the model for countless products, endorsing stuff from Skechers to Versace to Pepsi.  She also worked with jewelry designer Stephen Webster to launch a collection of sterling silver pieces.  While these could be used in the upcoming challenge, we’re still betting it has something to do with music.

Anyway, don’t miss a new episode of Project Runway, airing Thursdays at 10pm on Lifetime.

091709 1141 ProjectRunw1 Project Runway: Preview of Episode 5 Fashion HeadlinersThe title of the episode should already give you a heads-up on what to expect for tonight’s new Project Runway
installment.  Yep, heads-up for headliners.  The remaining designers will have to use rather unconventional materials for their work tonight.  Any guesses?

For “Fashion Headliners,” the contestants won’t need a trip to their friendly neighborhood fabric store because they’ll be working with newspapers.  I’d like to see them try to get those through a sewing machine.

Anyway, they’ve also got to impress the guest judges – actress Eva Longoria Parker and fashion luminary Tommy Hilfiger.  The stress is going to build up if they won’t make these headlines meet the deadlines.

Still, working with newspapers for clothes doesn’t sound so bad.  I’ve actually done that in high-school – use those materials to make a dress.  I didn’t wear that, of course.  It was just some messed-up contest that the administration thought of.  But unlike Project Runway, we only had a few minutes to put the whole thing together.

Since I don’t have any experience in the fashion industry, the dress I worked on looked painfully horrid.  We stuck pins and stapled our way through, basically trying to use the least amount of scotch tape.  But apparently our design was okay compared to the others, so we actually won.  We trashed the project soon after, which is no surprise.

Anyway, moving on to more relevant topics.  The Project Runway
designers would surely do better than I did.  They’ve already proven how well they can handle making party dresses under pressure, on the previous episode titled “What a Woman Wants.”

With the clients being their models, the designers had to come up with an outfit that would please them and the fashion gurus.  Some of them did pretty well, while some just couldn’t get along with their picky clients.  In the end, it was Althea Harper who bagged the win.  Meanwhile, the outspoken Qristyl Frazier was Auf’d.

Tim Gunn Unveiling New ‘Project Runway’ Book

Posted by: admin | Comments (0)

091409 1532 TimGunnUnve1 Tim Gunn Unveiling New Project Runway BookThe ever-charming Tim Gunn is one busy fellow.  From mentoring the designers of Project Runway
to working on Fashion Week to handling his own show, you’d think he has little time for other things.  Even so, there’s apparently another endeavor he’s pursuing.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the host of Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style
will be releasing a book next year.  Titled “Gunn’s Golden Rules: Life’s Little Instructions to Making It Work”, the tome will be published by Simon Spotlight Entertainment.  It’s due in June 2010, following his bestselling 2007 work “Tim Gunn: A Guide to Quality, Taste and Style.”

On an interview with FOX News, the silver-haired gent shared some tips for ladies who wish to dress the Tim Gunn way.  Spotted at the Addressing Psoriasis Fashion Show in New York, the Project Runway star had some words for those women wanting to look good while on a budget.  Some of these are probably in his book, so it wouldn’t hurt to get a headstart on studying up on that.

“There are three key elements to getting your fashion right and they are silhouette, proportion, and fit,” Gunn said.  “It has nothing to do with a particular label or its textile or its price, it’s those three elements.  And it’s true for women and it’s true for men as well.”

For those who aren’t too fond of scouring racks of clothes for a good bargain, he even suggests going on the web.  “I’m a big advocate for online shopping, especially when it comes to sizes, because few things irritate me or disappoint me as much as actually making the trip to the store only to find that they don’t have my size!”

Tim says it’s not all about trends, since there’s one fashion no-no he wishes would just disappear from the planet.  Whether you’re being frugal or not, the Project Runway
mentor will never allow it: “Crocs!”

Actually, you’d be better off buying Tim’s book – “Gunn’s Golden Rules: Life’s Little Instructions to Making It Work” – than slipping on that nasty footwear.  Catch the style guide in bookstores in June 2010.

091009 1647 ProjectRunw1 Project Runway: Season 6 Episode 4 What a Woman WantsThirteen lucky (or not so much) women get a chance to have their clothes designed by a designer from this season of Project Runway.  Once again, the designers have to take their clients’ preferences into consideration, while keeping their personal styles apparent in the finished product.

We’ve heard of this challenge before, but as with the usual Project Runway fare, a surprising twist is bound to be in store.  Unfortunately, that might just ruin your viewing experience so you’ll have to wait and just watch the episode, titled “What a Woman Wants.”

Can the designers give these ladies what their fashion-thirsty minds desire?  From the preview it looks doubtful, as client and designer just don’t see eye-to-eye.

Speaking of differences in opinion, we got to see the guys play the game in teams of two on the previous episode of Project Runway.  We were expecting some major catty carnage because working with others is no easy feat, and it was delivered.  Then again, seeing Tim Gunn in a blazer and flipflops probably managed to lighten the mood.

The sun was up last episode titled “Rumble on the Runway” and it was “fun and fashionable” surf wear as a challenge for the designers.  That’s not enough, since the hairstyle was an important element for the entire look.

Ra’mon and team leader Mitchell were mostly the focus of the episode, since they’re the ones who hardly got along.  Thanks to that edit, we already knew the outcome of the episode.  Well, the others – particularly Qristyl and Epperson – weren’t forming long-lasting friendships themselves.

Things took a turn for the worse when the designers were asked to create a second look, to which Ra’mon replies: “Capital W-T-F!”  It was definitely tough for him, since Mitchell’s mind was as scattered as cut-up cloth in the workroom.  Ra’mon ended up pulling the weight for the challenge, working on both designs.  After all that trouble, the only consolation would be winning.  Thankfully he did win, leading to Mitchell’s elimination.

Expectations are definitely high on tonight’s episode of Project Runway, given the identity of the guest judge and the challenge in store.  The remaining 15 designers will once again have to prove they have what it takes to win that cash prize and the coveted glory of being a winner of this hit series.

Tonight on the Lifetime network, catch the new episode of Project Runway titled “We Expect Fashion.”  The keyword to the challenge is the second one in the title, so there’s your clue as to what to “expect” tonight on the show.

There’s drama anew on “We Expect Fashion,” as the designers get to work on a special type of dress only certain women can wear.  Fine, they’re for pregnant ones.  The competition is fierce as each of them tries to best the others and please the guest judge – Rebecca Romjin.

With babies on the way and a contest to win, there’s definitely going to be drama on the set of tonight’s episode.  That is, if the comedy of wearing baby-bump plushies doesn’t get to them.

On the previous episode of Project Runway, we got to know the designers competing for this season.  After the much awaited All-Star Challenge won by season 2’s Daniel V., season 6 of the hit fashion series began.

The first challenge faced by the 16, other than getting over their starstruck expressions at seeing Tim Gunn and Heidi Klum, was to design a red carpet look.  They had to show innovation and point of view in their output.  The models were assigned to them, and were given a whole day to work on their fashions.

Come runway time, they met up with guest judge Lindsay Lohan and in the end it was Christopher Straub who took the win.  Unfortunately, one designer had to be eliminated and that was Ari Fish.

Don’t miss the new episode of Project Runway
on Lifetime tonight, Thursday, August 27 at 10pm.  “We Expect Fashion” will be followed by another new installment of Model of the Runway at 11pm.

Project Runway
lives through another season!  Tonight marks the premiere of the show’s sixth installment, with its all-new cast and a sister-series to back it up.  Now that it’s on Lifetime, it’s bound to have plenty of fresh faces to match the challenges ready for reality TV.

Along with the return of the hit show is the debut of Models of the Runway, which will accompany Project Runway as it progresses.  The new series focuses on the behind-the-scenes drama of the ladies strutting the catwalk, definitely something to look forward to.

There’s also the special Project Runway All-Star Challenge, where eight former contestants go head-to-head for another shot at the prize.  Daniel Vosovic, Santino Rice from season 2, Jeffrey Sebelia, Uli Herzner , Mychael Knight from season 3, Chris March and Sweet P from season 4 and finally Korto Momolu from season 5 will compete for $100.000 in the two-hour event.

As for the new season of Project Runway, we’re bound to get to know the designers from all parts of the country who are ready to take a shot at their designer dreams.  Of course, host Heidi Klum will be back, along with mentor Tim Gunn and the other judges.

The first episode of the season is “Welcome to Los Angeles!” wherein the 16 designers are brought in to face their fashion challenge.  Tim and Heidi will be waiting for them, and there’s no time wasted when the competition really begins.

Meanwhile, Models of the Runway storms in right after, with Heidi discussing the performance of the designers with the models themselves.  Check out the previews below.

Airing under its new home, “Project Runway” is releasing a promo of the long-delayed season 6. The footage, which emphasizes that the show has switched to Lifetime, shares also a brief look at Eva Longoria and Lindsay Lohan as guest judges.

Not given a sneak peek are the guest appearances of Rebecca Romijn and Christina Aguilera who have been confirmed to help Heidi Klum and the other judges in selecting the rightful designers. “What has been really great is that we’ve had so many great stars come on the show, which I think a lot of people enjoy watching,” Klum said previously.

“Project Runway” will premiere on August 20 preceded by “Project Runway: All Star Challenge” where contestants from previous seasons compete for a second chance winning the cash prize. Nicole Kidman will be on hand to provide them with the challenge in the special episode. Right after the season 6 premiere, there will be an accompanying series titled “Models of the Runway”.

‘Project Runway’ Shot Season Finale

Posted by: admin | Comments (0)

022109 0714 projectrunw1 Project Runway Shot Season Finale

Project Runway” may be in limbo but at least it has shot its wrap up episode during Mecedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York. The sixth season’s final three had their collections shown on the catwalk on Friday, February 20 and the event was taped as the season finale of the reality show which still has no premiere date after the January 2009 delay.

The show has been in the middle of broadcasting battle between Bravo TV and Lifetime, and this consequently brings an effect to the runway show when the finalists were kept hidden while their designs were being displayed. “Unfortunately nobody has seen the show yet. I’m a little bit sad for our designers that they don’t get that recognition today. We’re all in a bit of a limbo,” Heidi Klum said.

However, the fashion event also revealed who was likely being crowned the winner. According to some in attendance, the third finalist to have his or her design shown, was a recognizable winner. E! quotes season 5 winner Leann Marshall, “I think we’ll know pretty early on who [the likely winner] is.”

Additionally, OK! Magazine gives a spoiler to the finale, reporting that the final three would all be female and two of them are blondes. The winner however, was only determined after the show, on Friday.

13 episodes have been lined-up for this season and producer Harvey Weinstein is hoping that they “can sit down and work this out.” He added, “We’ve been trying to work it out to get it on.”

Project Runway Episode Recap: Finale Part 1

Posted by: admin | Comments (0)

In part one of the Project Runway season finale, the designers got hit with not one but two extra challenges. We got to see each out of their Parsons element and in their home lives and even saw a glimpse into Kenley’s softer side. Who made the cut and whose designs earned them a spot in Bryant Park? Keep reading to find out.

Heidi joined the remaining four on the runway for one last time before Bryant Park. With $8000 for their twelve piece collection she sent them on their way, but not before announcing that they’d have one last at home challenge. Each designer would have to create a wedding dress that represents them and is a reflection of their line. I like this challenge already.

My favorite moments each season are when Tim visits the final designers at home to view their collection in progress and meet their families. It’s always great to see each person out of the studio, in their everyday lives and what inspires them. For Korto in Little Rock, Arkansas it was culture and nature. Her designs were ethnic but not over the top and Tim described her palette as stunning and her looks sophisticated. Tim got to meet her husband and adorable daughter and even enjoyed a musical performance from Korto.
Next up, Tim visited Leanne in Portland, Oregon. Her inspiration was the waterfront which led her to design a collection full of wave patterns. Tim overall was impressed but Leanne seemed to be going back and forth with her wedding dress. Then Leanne took Tim on a lovely bike ride and boy was that visual with Tim riding with his helmet in the back amusing. She tells him that at twelve she knew she wanted to design.

In Los Angeles, Jerell is working on his garments. Tim has a few suggestions for his wedding gown and feels that his other outfits are “a lot of look.” When Tim meets his family Jerell gets a bit emotional when talking about his parents. They’re the reason he’s willing to take risks.

Kenley is working away in Brooklyn. Her looks were inspired by painting the roses red from Alice in Wonderland and also included some rope action inspired by her father’s tugboat captain career. Tim calls her wedding gown fantastic and she gets a bit teary eyed as she tells Tim she’s not thinking about the win but about her dream. Interestingly, her visit seemed short and we didn’t get to meet anyone from her life. Hmm.

It’s now six days until fashion week and the final four are back in New York. Jerell gets stuck sharing a room with Kenley and like every previous season, with the exception of last, there’s always one left out. Of course the designers aren’t in the clear. There’s one more challenge to be had which will decide the final three. Did they really think they’d get off that easily? The task was to design an accompanied bridesmaid dress. With $150 and a trip to Mood, the contestants were back to the workroom to complete the challenge. After hours of work and a bit of stress, Tim shares his parting words. He gets weepy as he tells the designer how much he believes in them all. Aww Tim.

It’s finally time for the deciding runway show! First up to be critiqued was Leanne but honestly, what is there to pick apart? Both of her dresses were absolutely stunning. Michael described it as chic and Nina thought the fabric was interesting, modern, yet dreamy. Jerell’s was certainly a risk. MK liked it from the waist down but was not a fan of the boob wings or the flower plot growing out of her head. I was disappointed overall. Kenley’s, although compared to Alexander McQueen, was unanimously liked and Michael thought it was done beautifully. Heidi calling her bridesmaid dress “cute” put her giddiness level over the top. She knew she earned her spot. Another disappointment was the talented Korto. Heidi told her flat out that she wouldn’t want to wear it and Michael thought the wedding gown was overworked while the bridesmaid dress was underworked. After deliberation, Heidi announced that Leanne and Kenley were both in. The final designer to make it to Bryant Park? Korto. I have to say that seeing the runway show in person, which included three “decoy shows,” I had a feeling that these would be the final three. But I sorta feel that Jerell got robbed after winning the most challenges this season, including the final one last week.
